This project required the design a six-page brochure that presents a key work of a type designer or type foundry to a contemporary audience using only two typefaces and colours. The solution to finding a way of presenting the career of Morris Fuller Benton in a brochure was found after researching not only his substantial influence in type design, but his personal life as well.

The images to be used in the brochure also had to be obtained that were to be used in the final design. Researching this aspect proved to be one of the more difficult aspects of the project as the time period Benton’s career was in as well as his reluctance to his fame proved difficult to obtain suitable imagery. 

Once the text and the imagery had been decided on, the colour scheme of the brochure has to be decided upon. Because of Benton’s ties to the United States as well as his contribution to the American Type Founders, a colour scheme related to the colours used in the United States flag were decided on. A mixture of a greyish-blue (Pantone 296 U), blood red (Pantone Bright Red U) and a white colour scheme was used throughout the design.
